Massive Chinese Spy Network Discovered

For 2 years now a Spy Network has been operating undiscovered in 103 countries across the world. Computers in Embassies across the world as well as governmental agencies have been infected. Researchers have said that in some cases the systems audio/video recording may have been remotely activated to transfer confidential communications back to China. The Chinese Government has officially denied any involvement with this spy network, however it has been computers based in China that have been responsible for the attacks/spying.

Now for my take: For all the millions we have spent on upgrading our military to fight a relatively low-tech war overseas, to occupy foreign democracies and fundamentalist regimes, we have completely and utterly ignored the development of practical defenses in the 21st century. These defenses have nothing to do with airport security, or border crossings, or bomb sniffing dogs, or skittle colored terror alerts. These defenses are against information saboteurs and collection. I have no doubt that this is but the TIP of the iceberg. While preliminary reports state that these networks have been in effect for only 2 years and over 1300 computers, far more are waiting to be detected.
This is like a bad Magician with slight of hand or a Scooby Doo mystery.
Good job though, it only took the suspicions of the Dalai Lama and some University Researchers to find a REAL threat to our security. Lets keep on throwing money to the reserves and Army and continue ignoring CSIS. Next time we actually need either of those armed forces perhaps their GPS won't work or the coordinates for an artillery strike will be on friendly units.
