Miami Parties, Castro, Cuba
1/31/2007 at 3:09 PM
So, upon the death of President Fidel Castro of Cuba, there is to be a large celebration in Miami.
So, what are everyone's thoughts on Castro, Cuba under his rule, and what is in the future??
While I am not a fan of authoritarian rule, he has done some remarkable things in Cuba. For example, once taking control, he closed the universities and made the students go out into the countryside and educate the ppl...the literacy rate of Cuba is now in the 90%s. Also, there are no drugs (illigal) in Cuba. There is no drug problem. It's the safest place to walk around in Latin America!
As for teh future, well, we shall see how the US reacts to Raul, Fidel's brother, taking over. I think they should start to warm up to him to try and open basic trade. The embargo isn't working and it's time the US abandoned this anntiquated Cold-War plan! It's not working!
Your thoughts??
