Global Warming

Is it just me, or does it seem somewhat odd that our Minister of Environment would contribute to global warming, by flying over to Paris (FRANCE) to take part in something he could have enjoyed via tele-conference?
Not knocking the guy, but his education wass a B.A. in polital studies, not a degree in geography, meteorology, climateology, or physics.
What did he possibly have to contribute to this conference??????????????????
