Seperate Afghanistan thread

"I think you are misinformed about what exactly the war in Afghanistan is all about. We are not involved in fighting Osama or Al Qaeda. If we are interested in fighting Osama and his organization perhaps we should look closely at Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and other allies or ours which have a much closer connection to Al Qaeda than Afghanistan has."
The conspiracy theorists love to talk about how many of the 9/11 hijackers came from Saudi Arabia. They don't so much talk about how many were living in the US. Unless, of course, your of the belief that the US government wanted the attack to happen. If not, Saudi Arabia no more supports Al Qaeda than the American government.
Pakistan's position on Al Qaeda is, to say the least, less enthusiastic than the Taliban's was. But for arguments sake, even if it wasn't, invading Pakistan is more complicated than invading Afghanistan. Nukes, 1000 times as many soldiers and a relatively more stable government make invading Pakistan a wee bit more complicated.
If you want to talk about misinformed, I'd say likening Afghanistan to Pakistan is a good example.
