I took my children to the fair only to realize that half of this is Just not fair most of the rides in the kids section was filled with rules such as kids under 42 inches must be accompanied by adult. . My son is 45 inches tall. And he got deinied to go on half the rides. . I understand saftey and rules. So I kept my eyes on some of the rides. Only to notice there were kids alot smaller then mine going on them . So I confronted a ride operator and he told t make a complaint to costumer service. But everybdy know s nothing aint gonna happen about that.

Can't say I ever had that happen. Are you getting denied because you kid is too short or too tall? I'm unclear.

For all the money you will spend at the fair here in brandon....go to tinkertown in winnipeg instead atleast your kids will not be disappointed when they can't go on something cause Tinkertown is made for small childern. and your kids can go on alllllll the rides.  
 
my 6 and 2 yr old have never been let down by tinkertown --that waste of time and money so called fair here in brandon we will never do. did once and thats all it took.

Why not just buy a pass and accompany your children? I for one will be going on the rides I can with my child. Seeing his smile will be worth it

You say you understand the safety aspect, but yet you want to risk you child for a ride? Do you really understand that putting your kid on a ride if he/she is too small puts them at risk? Or is there a bigger issue here that you need to explain

I'm kind of confused, but if your child is tall enough maybe there just not big enough? A shorter... Uhm... Chubbier child won't be whipped around as much, if you have a tall lanky child maybe there more worried that they'll get whipped around based on them being lighter? I have no idea why they'd not allow him to go on the rides, but this is just a thought that came to mind.

The rules are in place for safety reasons, I can't believe people are whining about them. The height requirement is there for a reason! Sometimes even if they meet the height, they still need someone to accompany them. I wouldn't want an allowance made for my kid, I want them to be as safe as possible!

I second this for sure. Once my kids had been to Tinkertown, we gave them the choice each year - Brandon fair or Tinkertown. They always choose Tinkertown!

hmmmm did you not read what you quoted? All of you for that matter. It's clearly stating that the child was above the "minimum height requirement"?

She said her child was above the height requirements and that kids smaller then hers went on. Reread the post before commenting about safety and policies. If a child smaller went on then there should have been no valid reason they denied the kid a ride. I hate the fair. Tinker town is where we are headed with our 2 year old.

Maybe there are other safety requirements. I doubt the employees randomly deny kids just for the heck of it. Especially if her kid got denied on half the rides. There must be a reason other. You really think the employees were colluding to deny access to specific kids?

i would just get in line again and if they say no show them your child measures on there sign ask why not.  
 
I can understand being concerned about safety but that is why there is a height requirement, set out so kids are safe after that unless they can tell you a concern then it does seem a bit unfair  
 
however i wonder if the other kids were tall enough, its hard to tell when they are close

ok so note to all with kids...  
-do not send your kids to the fair in sandals as the may be refused rides  
-height a factor but weight as well as they must fit seatbelts and or be sure they won't get trown around on the ride  
 
Also dont get your nose outta joint if refused.If safety is a concern and the operator feels the child could be injured they will refuse. Nothing wrong with that...my brother had to hose someones remains from the Runaway Train one year out west. Disappointed child versus injury /death? Ill tate the screaming child anyday

There were a couple rides that you couldn't be OVER fourty some inches (48 I think?).. Even my ten year old was denied (52 inches), but my 6 year old got on, she was to Tall. Could this have been the ride... I know the helicopters were like that... And possibly one other ride I don't recall... So yes, shorter kids would've been allowed on while your wasn't. Makes sense.

is where we take our money. You get may rides, many attractions, pickup and delivery service to various places in the car lot so you don't have to walk 4 miles to get there but most of all, we have found that there is nobody butting in lines or cursing you out which makes for a far more enjoyable experience overall.  
I hate to tell people to not go to our fair but I cannot even begin to list off all the things that we have experienced (negatively) there.  
Our fair money is spent in Winnipeg now.

oh by the way ..don't bother calling the provincial ex ... they wash clear of any issues and pass the blame to the operators of the rides so....bs to the city tinkertown where my money goes every time

I would of spent my time with my kids having fun vs keeping my eye on rides. But maybe that is just me.  
 
Really if you want something done about your concern you should go to the NAME Guest Relations. They do look into many concerns and/or explain how the height rules work. Making a complaint to eBrandon will get you nowhere.

I saw a person just like you, met the height requirements but was still denied. It was because of their open toed sandals! Makes sense to me.

At each ticket booth it clearly states that there may be age, height and weight restrictions. So your child may have been too short, too tall, too thin, too fat, or too young to ride those rides. It all comes down to safety.

I can't believe how many people are upset that the operators of the rides won't make allowances to get your little ones on rides they wouldn't be safe on!!  
 
This thread should be entitled "carnies are mean, bad people because they take safety too seriously" or "carnies are bad because they said no to my Johnny, and he'd never heard no before"!  
 
I was at the fair all day yesterday and I saw plenty of kids who were turned away from some rides. It was quite obvious that some parents were ignoring the height restrictions, hoping the ride operator wouldn't notice, but they always did. I say a big kudos to the people running the midway for taking safety seriously, even when the parents don't! And for putting up with the parents of the spoiled brats who never hear the word "no"!

if there was some other safety reason besides the height requirement for the ops child to be denied a ride then i would think the carnies would have said so (sorry no open toed shoes, ect) if they didnt then its not a case of the op's child being spoiled its a case of them not being fair or neglecting their duties to communicate which leaves unhappy customers

Couldn't find a FOOTLONG hotdog at the fair no matter how I tried, but there's a midway man walking through the crowd with a meter long SNAKE wrapped around his neck. Just great cause my fear of snakes is so great, I had to leave.

a post of how your kid was allowed on a ride and flew off into the crowd, then people would be here complaining how a child was allowed on a ride that was not safe for them.  
Been there myself when the guy in charge of the ride did not strap me in and I ended up hanging on for dear life outside of the seat hoping they would stop in time.

did you misread the signs? The vast majority of the rides have a dual height requirement... you must be XX tall to ride this ride, you must be XX tall to ride alone (without an adult)
