Maybe I am heartless, but if the parents took a bit more interesting is raising their kids they wouldn't be out stealing and joyriding in cars.
I have trouble feeling sorry or sad for any person that dies as a result of their own actions. They chose to steal the car, they chose to run from the police. People sure expect a lot from the police, expecting them to be almost superhuman able to save people from a sinking car, to disarm people high on drugs without risking their own life and limb.
I would personally rather a criminal die or be injured than an officer die or get hurt trying to save someone who doesn't have the common sense to obey the law.
Teenaged girls aged 15-16 know the difference between right and wrong, stealing is wrong and there is zero excuse for stealing a car for a joyride. They made a bad call and paid the price
