Germans to stockpile 10 days of food

At first I thought the stockpiling article was a hoax but found the following link to what appears to be reputable source. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-germany-security-stockpiling-idUSKCN10W0MJ Any thoughts on the news article. Should we be stockpiling more than the 72 hours we are told to have by our government?

You must live in the city...most people in country could probably go a few weeks if they didn't need milk....freezers full of meat and home frozen veggies, canned fruit and veggies and a few 75lb bags of taters....us in rural areas don't just run to the store every meal time. Not to mention 10 for 10 sales and warehouse sales...and yes I have at least a month's worth of toilet paper lol

I am a former farm kid not living on a farm anymore. I am well stocked unless I lost power for more than a few days. I could keep my freezers running on generator power for a few days until I ran out of gas. Do the Germans know something that the rest of the world doesn't or are they being prudent?
