He is the President of the United States, not Canada. U.S. citizens voted him into office as was their right, just as we had the right to elect Justin Trudeau.  
(and a lot of people thought we were nuts too).  
So lets mind our own business as the polite Canadians we are known to be and see how things play out.  
For the record, didn't like either of the candidates.

wish we all could just tune out the American election and politics. But it's even more polarising here than our own election and politics. Guess it has to do with the power the U.S President has, and how it can affect us in Canada. A lot of what they do down there can have a big effect on us here, especially in trade.

The affordable health  care act was one of Obama's undoing. How he handled the Mexican border and illegal was another. Hillary was a terrible choice for the dems.  
 
if there was no independent third party Trump would of lost. @ 50 million plus voters though he has broad support. he will make undoable changes. He gets to tilt the supreme court from activist left to passive right. I am not a isolationist like he is but it is time for the EU to step up to the plate on many issues and I agree with him on NATO.  
 
The day went well. His swearing in was as usual every four years is part of a cool event. Kudos to those who protested. Maybe more of them will vote in four years. It will be a interesting 4/8 years.

So many of those on the left would be perfectly fine with real Sharia. Even though, if it were ever implemented, we would lose all of the rights that people on the left side of the political spectrum claim to care so much about.

Not true, and a pretty unfair generalization. Are you even aware of what Sharia law entails? And if we were to lose all of the rights that "people on the left" care about, how can you say that those same people would be "perfectly fine" with it? I'm thinking that you need to step away from the computer and get some sleep. You aren't making any sense.

For all of those who are claiming that Donald Trump is an illegitimate president because he didn't win the popular vote, the electoral college voting method is and has always been the way US Presidential elections are decided. But then, you already know that. The left, with the help of the Democrat biased media are just hoping that there are enough gullible, uninformed people around who will actually believe their lie. If anyone is going to continue to push this nonsensical claim, then let them name just one election where the US president was elected by the popular vote without winning the electoral college vote.  
 
President Trump is the legitimate president based on the way presidential elections are decided. The sore losers on the left really need to accept that fact, but they won't. The crazies who make up those idiotic protests will never accept that fact, most of the Democrat Party will likely never accept it and the "Hollywood Idiots" will certainly never accept it. Fine. They're entitled to their delusions. If this election has done one thing, it has forced the lunatic fringe left to show us who and what they really are. Well known celebrities suggesting that the president and his family should be assassinated, that the Whitehouse should be bombed. Singers and musicians being intimidated, bullied if you will, into not performing at the inauguration by other celebrities and powerful, prominent people in the entertainment industry, by people who claim to be some of the most opposed to every form of bullying, the ones who claim to be the tolerant ones, the ones who claim to be the nice ones. Man, what a bunch of hypocrites!  
 
Will President Trump be able to put his entire agenda in place? I doubt it. He will get some of it through. We'll just have to wait and see how much. We may get some surprises too. He has changed his stance on several issues since the beginning of his campaign so, it's hard to say just what he really will do. One thing is for sure though, no matter what he does or doesn't do, the left won't stop hating him, they won't stop their idiotic protests against him and the left-wing biased media won't stop reporting tabloid style garbage news stories about him. Of course, these are the same tactics that the left used against George W Bush and will continue to use against any future Republican presidents, simply because the lunatic fringe left believes that every Republican president is an illegitimate president.  
 
One thing is certain. It's going to be an interesting four years.

You are the one who used the phrase "Christian version of Sharia Law". Of course, there is no such thing, but by making that comparison, you are reaffirming everything that I just said.

Trump will have even the craziest of the conservatives saying "uh, ok...this guys nuts" it won't come from any crazy thing he says or does at first, it'll come financially. I just hope it happens before he's impeached...he's just too stupid to not do something utterly stupid...

Are you going to equate having consensual relations with an intern to banning refugees from other countries who live, work, and have families in the State? Not to mention the discussions on torture and anti-abortion orders being put in place.
