I am trying to understand the city of Brandon. There is probably a good explanation, so if someone could please let me in on it.....  
 
Why is the city sanding bare paved roads?

I was wondering that exact same thing when I saw them doing that today. Hopefully someone in the know will chime in on this, doesn’t make much sense

I don't know if you garden but lots of times I think, wow, it poured and I don't have to water the garden. Then I scratch below the surface and it's dry as a bone.

about sanding and they told me it is at the discretion of the driver. We have had snow packed and slippery at our intersection and barely got a sprinkle of sand

At least theyre out sanding... ive noticed the city being way more on top of keeping the roads safer to travel on so far this winter. Compared to the past few years, maybe they caught on and will stay on top of it this year and years to come!

I wish they didn''t clear our street. I have seen it a lot worse and begged for it to be cleared but no. Are they looking to use up the entire snow clearing budget so they can say they need more of our money?  
 
My driveway and front sidewalk were left a mess after the front end loader went by. I''m starting to wonder why I clear snow at all. I clear it down to the concrete but the front end loader operator obviously has no clue how not to leave it worse off each time. Do they need more training? Do they need to slow down? This hasn''t always been the case. Only in the past few years. So what has changed?  
 
I''d rather have the grader operator lift the blade going by my place.

I think clearing sidewalks is the operater’s choice. We live on a residential street no where near a school or anything busy and the plows pushed everything into the side walk on the first pass and their second plow cleared our sidewalks adjacent to the street on the second pass within 5 minutes.
