For me it has been my lilies..come up every year and flower for quite a while. Hostas are another that performs well. I don’t see to have any luck with astilbes. Interested to hear what works well for others.

although the little tea-roses are very happy too!

I’m pretty disappointed with the perennial wild flowers that I planted last year, only some of them came up this year and so far only a couple have even bothered blooming. The poppies I planted this year didn’t even germinate

My bleeding heart died, my day Lillie’s died, chocolate chips, white bell flowers and ivy all gone. The only things that came up was my poppies and some very sad looking hostas

One of my Weigela plants died due to winter burn. However, the rest are pretty good.  
 
Diervilla Firefly has the usually yellow blooms.  
 
Potentilla has good blooms. Had to trim quite a bit of dead stems this spring.  
 
Elderberry has none. I initially thought this plant was dead from winter. But I basically trimmed all the dead branches down and now it''s growing.. but no flowers.  
 
Weigela had lots of nice pink flower in spring/early summer.  
 
Hosta is on the slower side, but the flowers are going to bloom anyday now.  
 
Hydrangea has lot of blooms.  
 
Peonies plant, I planted this year. I doubt I will get anything from it this year.  
 
Rose bush from last year has tons and tons of roses.  
The other I planted this year in spring, had one rose from it and I see another bud forming.  
 
Lots of people do not know this. But plants are zoned for our climate. Make sure you buy a proper zoned plant. Stores in Brandon, sell plants that are zoned for warmer winter climates, which will not survive our winter, unless you put burlap on it.

Never sure....is Brandon zone 3?

My hosta only peaked out an inch this year, but I look around and there are a lot of hosta’s Looking great! What am I doing wrong? I’ve had my hosta in the flower bed for almost 10 years and it usually does quite well, so I’m not sure why it didn’t come up this year. Do Perennials eventually stop growing year after year? Maybe I need to replace it with a new one? Anyone else have this happen with their hosta?

Yes I believe so we are zone 3.. I think wegeila are zone 3 and mine was winter burned. I also did loose a boxwood as well

my Hosta is doing great - added a pic - a little worse for wear today in the wind.  
 
Also, roses. We buy Morden roses or Winnipeg Park Rose. The Winnipeg Park we have has spread into three plants, we never cover it, baby it, just cut it down in the spring. It only has one flower right now and 14 buds, so didn't bother with a picture.

Hosta's, doing great, lily's fantastic show this year, roses are in full pink bloom, hens and chics, ferns, bleeding hearts, etc are all in top form....I need more succulents though...

Also have to remember that different plants like different PH (Acidic or Akaline), and they preform a lot better!!  
 
Coffee grounds are great use for plants and veggie plants!

I believe we are zone 2b now.
