I am looking to put a Sandpoint well in, however I ant find a hand auger long enough to cover 16-18 feet. Any advice please help. Homedepot has nothing, battlefield nothing.

They are sand point and water specialists.

If softer ground just point it in, did that in Ontario and worked just fine

Can't seem to find a hand auger that has extentions in brandon. I would just pound it in but been told that it's inadvisable to do it. So kinda stuck unless someone has one that be willing to lend or allow it to be rented. Need to dig 18 feet.

Just buy 10' lengths of 1/2 or 3/4 " galvanized pipe at Home Hardware or Home Depot. Just keep on add pieces with connectors as you go down. You will need some help, some one on a ladder to help you pull the auger up each time the shovels are full.  
Make sure all the connections on your well pipe have lots of pipe caulking and are all treaded very very tight !  
You also have to have at least 3-4 ft of water above your point. example if you have a 2 ft point you need 5-6Ft of water in your pipe.

Wash it down.

You would have to look it up on how to do it. The end on the sand point gets changed, a hose goes down into the pipe, turn the water on and it washes down into the sand quite fast. It how we do it.

Where are you in the city? I’ve done 1 via digging down and one via pounding. 2 different areas of city

Should add I did have auger with 25’ of extensions I’ll see if I can find it.

when to southern water, they recomment that i dig the 18f before buying the pipe and sandpoint

so i dug the well out to the gravel line where it would cave in onto itself. then i hammered the sand point and pipe in 4.5 feet and i have roughly 4.5 feet of water in the pipe. i used a hand pump to pump out the air, however, i had alot of kick back on the handle kicking back on me. southern waters mentioned i and partly in the clay bed, would this cause a kick back on pressure?. where the handle on the hand pump would kick back. just looking for a second opinion before i start pulling a feet or 2 out.

Any time the handles kicks back you know the water isn’t drawing from a good stream.  
 
I have sometimes been successful with sticking a garden hose into the standpoint and flushing it out.  
 
More often it is a case of not being in a good stream. Sometimes you are not deep enough. Other times you have to sink it lower.  
 
In my yard I keep sinking holes I could see water but the point wouldn’t draw. I eventually moved my point about twenty feet. Found the stream and now cam run three sprinklers.
