Abbysmum said "I've had some great tomatoes depending on their location in my yard. I have a total of 8 raised beds scattered around my property.
In one general location, mostly romas, they were small but tasty. Overall quality was good with very little blight.
In other location, mostly beef steak and while there's been some cracking they are decent sized but slow to ripen.
In a third location, it's black krim and san marzano. They did insanely well, the krim gave me some monster tomatoes! There was a fair amount of cracking and some insect damage however. The san marzano produced prolifically with good sized fruit and very few blemishes and no cracks.
All the cherry tomatoes did well no matter where they were planted.
It was hard to water them enough. The ones that did really well were more densely planted with more intercropping with other plants. All my plants had a heavy layer of mulch for water conservation. "
I' so jealous that you had Black Krim tomato! I had purchase a single plant but had to ask for a different one and when I went back the greenhouse was all out of that variety.
For the second year in a row there was not blossom end rot. I had a couple of Roma tomato with BER but that's it..
Anyway..... there's always next year
