Are there any seasoned gardeners here who can give me an idea of when and how to harvest?  
 
I've got two pumpkins in my garden one is starting to turn orange (where the vine attaches to the fruit) but the other is just now starting to lighten to a paler green. We're expecting a frost on monday, so i need to get these out of the garden before then. Will they be ok? How do i store them?  
Also I have about a dozen corn stalks and the silk is turning brown, how brown do they have to get before i can pick them? (again, keep in mind that We're supposed to get frost on monday) and (my dumbest question, lol) I've never grown corn before, how do i harvest it off the plant? lol. Also i noticed today these small brown shiny beetles (no patterns on them) crawling around among the silk of the corn, should that be a big worry?
