Need help growing catcus in tank.

dont know much about growing these type's of plants but i want to grow some for my pet geko inside his tank with him. is it a bit too humid inside of it? is that a problem?
i also would like to have very large plants for decor are they as hard to up keep?
ive bought plants from wal-mart that keep dying, the best luck if had was from a gift shop, lasted about 4 months.
the 1 thing i learnt so far is to keep them away from drafts.
plz any expertise would be appreicated
