Onion maggots

Not sure if this will work for maggots, but I have used plain cornmeal around plants to rid of cutworms, ants to,etc. The bugs can't digest the cornmeal; which they will consume as well as take back to the colony, and it kills them. Give it a try and sprinkle ordinary cornmeal around plants, but may have to reapply after a rain. It has worked for me for years now. Good luck and enjoy those onions.
