Great success with two -
Champion and Parks Whopper.
These two we have found have the best taste and are solid fruit as opposed to a lot of seeds and water. They both make fantastic bacon tomato sandwiches (they get big enough that you need only one slice on a regular bread loaf)
I have also noted these two fair the best against blight and other diseases.
What I have not found, however - is a good tasting roma. When the season is done and you have more tomatoes than you can use, I cut them in half, and roast them in baking pans with some garlic, EVOO and Italian spices until they are practically brown. Take a stick blender to them and freeze the most fantastic "spagetti" sauce you will ever have. But I usually like to have a roma plant for this reason as there is less water and seeds - but I find them very bland.
Suggestions on a good sauce tomato, anyone?
