See attached pics. Found in the backyard, about 3 inches long and as big around as about a dime (3/4 inch). Hoping to pick the brain of someone with a few more years' experience in the backyard than I. Google image reverse search's best guess is "reptile" which I'm thinking "not quite"

I think you solved it (achemon sphinx), thanks! On more digging they appear to like grape vines, which it just happened to be not too far from.

For anyone interested enough to read more, the link below believe it or not has a Brandon reference where someone had sent in a pic of the moth for identification and were told it isn't very common in Manitoba compared to parts further South. It's only within the last few years they've been confirmed in Southern Saskatchewan too:

From other reading it does sound like its related to the tomato hornworm mentioned above.

caterpillars around. One was climbing the window screen and driving my cat nuts, lol It's totally gross stepping on one though.

The caterpillar is ugly, but the moth is quite beautiful!
