Pink Blooming Trees

I see them everywhere in Brandon. Does anyone know what they are called and where can you buy one? Not fruit trees. Thank you!

Mine is an artificial crab apple tree. The apples look more like cherries which are basically bird food. They stay on the tree all fall and winter and are there for the birds first thing in the spring. Every second year they produce like crazy. Very colourful tree as the leaves change colour throughout the seasons too.

Ours is a Thunderchild Crabapple, but this year is its resting year and didn't bloom. I posted a picture of it in blooming years.

The correct term would be an ornamental crab. An artificial tree would not grow.

I have several flowering crab apple trees but my very favourite is the Kelsey Crabapple with its deep pink double blossoms. It is also very hardy here. I'm sorry I can't post a photo with my phone but if you google it you will see how pretty they are.

Although the lilacs are also blooming right now. They are typically smaller (often a "bush"), and the flowers are in spikey clusters ranging from light purple to deep purple to white. They also have a distinctive scent, one of my favourites!

I would try the Green Spot. They have lots of different kinds of fruit and ornamental trees.

The trees will range in price depending on size, I would guess the $60 for a smaller tree to $120 for a larger one.

Superstore has a couple of these out front for $50... depending on the ground space you have to work with, can be an attractive landscaping option for how upright this particular variety grows (much taller than they do wide):

1)Watering?
2)Should I buy mulch?
3)Any fertilizer?
