    I would like to know what kind of bug I encountered in my garden or if anyone knows. I'm a fist time gardener and by the looks of things, it doesn't look good. The bug is black in colour, looks like a bettle and is currently eating my potato leaves. It has black legs and a black body, no other signs of colour.

    Likely potato bugs. Pick them off and kill them and buy some potato dust at the store

    This is not the Colorado Potato Beetle. Some kind of insect but not the traditional potato bug.

    That this is a kind of blister beetle known as an oil beetle. Can cause a nasty reaction if it bites.
