A lot of contradictory information going around from folks that dont have a source to share. Anything that doesn't include info from owners or info that one can verify with their own eyes should be seen as a guess at worst and unverified rumour at best. Personally, out of respect to the fact there are so many different possibilities unless I hear otherwise I go on the assumption we'll see a business open again in the not too distant future.

At this point about all one has to go off of is that:

- theres a closed sign on the door on Victoria ave
- the building inside is quite gutted. All tables/chairs/counters in the restaurant itself look to be removed
- the pic on the Facebook page of a sign on the door indicated that it was a holiday closure until Feb 1. Today is Feb 8.
- the two times I've tried calling their phone number over the past couple weeks during what would've been normal business hours have had no answer (but perhaps a relevant distinction that the line isn't disconnected?)
- someone mentioned the space next to Papa Johns as a relocate possibility. I have one fairly good source thats told me its a different, non-food related business that is reno-ing that particular space. Not sure if that business has gone public and so not my place to name them without at least another decent source.

I would really like to do everything I can to make sure the correct info is shared. Through public records I have the name of the person listed on record as the President of the holding company that owns Kam Lung but for the life of me can't track down contact info. If anyone out there has a direct contact to the owners that they can share please feel free to drop me a note through the Contact & Support link at the bottom of the page, or at least tell them I'm trying to get a hold of them. I'd like to make sure that the right info is represented here as a lot of folks are obviously curious about this long-time Brandon dining spot!

My source told me they will be moved to another location. Where exactly I don't know but it's close to A&W on 18th Street. The current building is sold to someone else.

Side note, I have a message in with someone that sounds like they may be involved with the business. I understand the Sun may also have this topic on their radar for the coming days.

I could be wrong, but I'm sure this thread happens every year around this time.... I believe they close for a week or two every winter.

Kam Lung is going to open somewhere else. My son and I really enjoyed going and he keeps wondering what's going to happen. Hope someone can share some news soon.

This has been a difficult one.
Unfortunately when literally nobody is saying anything the best one can do is as responsibly as possible share what facts and rumours are available, being as clear as possible about sources for facts and being as clear as possible when it is only a rumour.

With Kam Lung:
- I pulled the land title on Feb 8 but have avoided posting while I try my best to get ahold of someone with more info. It shows that dating back to 1996 the property has been owned by Belair Restaurant Brandon Ltd, which obviously must have been a part of the previous sale several years ago.
- The Manitoba Companies Database shows that as of Feb 8, Belair Restaurant Brandon Ltd was held by the numbered company 5828415 Manitoba Ltd. Perhaps relevant, perhaps not but the listing for 5828415 Manitoba Ltd noted that there was a recent change of Directors/Officers on October 25, 2017
- called the business phone number yesterday, still keeps ringing, still in service, no voicemail with further info
- the companies listing notes a Brandon city address for the Director/Officer of the company. Not going to post a private address on here, but I left a respectful letter in the mailbox of that address last week requesting that they contact me if they'd like to get their story out and have not heard back.
- there's been a rumour from two separate sources now that the building has been bought by a separate local restaurant that deals in the same general variety of food. Have tried calling that restaurant twice and left a message, so far have not been able to connect. Wont post their name myself at this point, but will say that the more sources behind something the more believable it starts to become.
- (rumour alert on this one) but have been able to get in contact with *another* local restaurant in the same general line of food. Indicated that they heard (note rumour, not verified fact) that the building was sold and that the restaurant may re-open elsewhere later this year (the impression I was given is that if true we’d be looking at months rather than weeks).

Take that as you will. My head's spinning, how about yours?

In the end when its private companies involved it's their call on what they do and dont want to communicate just as its a customer's call on where to eat on any given night based on options that are available.

None of the above as far as I can tell with my admittedly below average night vision but maybe T-Tops can elaborate (or maybe someone can share what they do or dont notice on their morning drive). Does look to be some form of work being done inside the building on Victoria Ave though.

Added a pic. Folks can be their own judge on sign status. I’ll give T-tops the benefit of the doubt that they saw the outline of the letters that were removed?

I’ll be the first to admit that there’s a lot info here for a discussion about a restaurant, but it’s very clear this is a topic that has the interest of a lot of local folks not just on eBrandon but around town in general. A lot of people with a lot of memories at the place (it was one of our go-tos when in high school) that are interested in what the next chapter might be!

A piece by the Sun today with a few more details (link below, I believe no paywall). Not known exactly what’s up, but one important detail being that the City has issued permits for interior renos and new pylon signage. Based on info avail so far, as of now it looks like whatever’s next would be restaurant in nature.

Overall the fact that the Sun has done a story is a good example of how a topic can come up in a discussion thread and benefit from further exploration in media. I’ll update if I learn of anything more from their end or if I find out anything myself otherwise.

Yesterday we were discussing how we handle this technology world, and how we try not to admit we are addicted to it, then a link comes up about something many if us are interested in and I'm continuously trying the links, getting an error message, then going right back and checking them again, pretty sure I'm not alone on this.
Even suggested to my wife that we make a run to town and pick up a paper.
I don't know if anyone else will mention this but thanks to those who are making all the attempts to keep informed, thanks guys.

I heard the building has been gutted and up for sale and they will be moving to the Krevco Building on 18th street
