If it's not open, where are people going for saskatoons? Should be ready to go soon, yes?

Interested to hear re this place or another close to town. I gather Riverbend at Portage is good to go and was planning a trip out that way this week!

We have been out picking wild ones already. I imagine the U-picks should be going too.

I have a whole ice cream pail from the one bush in my backyard and they are the size of blueberries. More than enough for me!

Tips on nearby areas to find wild, or is that the kind of info one keeps close to the vest? (Legal, public land of course).

This is definitely a good year for them. I pick on my sister's land. Two of us picking got an ice cream pain in an hour yesterday. For the most part, private picking spots are kept private because there are people who will go onto private land to pick (without permission) and then sell the berries.

You will most likely find no tips on wild ones because then people trespass and could easily wipe out someone's private berry bushes. It is like gold...  
 
The best tip I can give you is to watch ditches when bushes are blooming in spring and remember where you saw them for when you want to come back later. Keep in mind that if it is by a field/pasture, that only bushes in the ditch are fair game. There is also the fact that they most likely have been sprayed (direct/with drift) by agricultural sprays, so most likely will not be organic just because they are wild.

Saw signs on the highway across from Minnedosa Beach that they were open for U-Pick Saskatoons.

I went to this place near deloraine to pick Saskatoons. They were delicious and $12 for u-pick. They also have strawberries this year that are also tasty
