Didn’t know that the restaurant changed ownership. Was my favourite go to pizza for many, many, years. Will definitely miss it. Have to find a new place now. Lots of options but only a few make really good pizzas. Really loved the Romana Special for flavour and was at least affordable.

The new owners are still making the same fabulous pizza.

If they switched ownership anytime in the last year, I would not have been able to tell. As previous poster stated, they're still making the same pizza.  
 
I don't think that a change in ownership is inherently a sign that a restaurant is going to close and/or change, especially if they're successful.

I got it Thursday and it was exactly the same as every other time I’ve bought it.

Well that’s good news that the pizza tastes the same. Is it also similar in price? Pretty sure I’ve been ordering there for over 20 years when ever I wanted a great pizza. Have also tried many others over the years but always came back to Romanas. Someone once told me that Mariano’s on tenth was similar but I have never tried it.

I would suggest the Classic pizza at Marinos. It is very similar to Romanas Special-best pizza places in town!

Mario "Kokonos" was the founder of the secret meat sauce, pizza sauce and the marinara! I believe it was his family that founded this place called Romano's, then eventually opened up Marino's.  
 
Sadly Mario has been gone for several years now, and the son's who ran it successfully have moved on.  
The new owner who I think is Richard Sholdice (formerly from Pizza Express) seems to have to have modelled well after Mario's recipes, as did Romano's.  
I believe Jeff Stritz and his wife ran Romano's in the early 2000's and also carried on the famous recipes.  
 
I delivered for both places. Was great when an order was not claimed and the drivers could share it on our break!  
Also Triffon's carried the famous Greek traditional style of sauces and baking. That was a winner in the 80's from what I recalled. There were two locations. Great place to go at 2am after the bars closed.

Triffon's, Pizza Express, Roman's, and one other pizza joint in the 300Blk 10th Street (Can't remember the name, were all owned by the same family. Brothers I think. This would be back in the 1980's

FYI. It’s Romana Pizza.

That was great place also. I think Jim Edwardson took it over before he started "We Deliver". He was the local author of Skip the Dishes.
