Kiwi allergy, Need advice..

Well, not long ago we found out my son has an allergy to Kiwi, before you roll your eyes, it is actually one of the top ten allergy foods, becoming more noticeable now that kiwi is readily available in places that it was not, not very long ago.
My son had Kiwi yogurt for a snack, I turned around, and when I turned back around his mouth was all swollen, I didn't get it, it was getting larger by the second, so we ran off to the doctor. When we got there, there was a lot of people waiting, the nurse was concerned about the size of his lips and the speed at which they were getting larger, so she took the papers out of the door for who was next and put us in in front of everyone ( sorry people ) we were there 7 minutes after his lip started to swell, at this point he could not open his mouth, he had The doctor wanted him observed, gave meds, and kept watch in case he needed a shot of epi. After that we got allergy testing and found out for sure my son has a life threatening allergy to kiwi, this was his first exposure to kiwi, if it was to happen again it would be worse, and it would be not just his face that would swell within 7 minutes.. He would not be breathing in 7 minutes.
My question is.. Anyone else have to go through this, my son will be entering school in the fall, how do you go about telling everyone that they will not be able to bring kiwi. I don't want to bother people or take kids favorite food away from them, I really don't want to put people out, but this is a HUGE safety concern, if my son touches something that touched a kiwi, he could react this badly. I know how some people feel about food restrictions, and honestly I understand, how do I go about making this smooth and hostility free? I am lucky that the school he will be going to is caring, understanding, and will have no problem helping me, the people are all awesome also, but they will have a reason to be a bit put off if their kids love kiwi in their lunches.. Can I have some advice please? Something I need to be thinking about and planning for now, Thanks in advance!
