question about making homemade jelly

Is there anyone out there who has made apple jelly WITHOUT using certo??
I am looking for a recipe that would also have a lower sugar content. Everyone that I have talked to has used certo and has used at least 50/50 sugar to juice. I like my jelly to be sweet but that is just nuts.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
