Best fries and gravy in Brandon??

Well it might not be right in Brandon but the home fries and gravy at the Shilo Inn in Shilo are AMAZING. I'm from out east and I'm kind of picky for poutines. Shilo inn makes the best fries and gravy around here.

The best fries by far are fries from Patches!!!

I agree. You cant go wrong with KFC fries & gravy or a KFC poutine.  
I recently tries Pizza Express poutine & it was good. I recommend it.

id have to say tastes on first is the best!

Reading these posts has given me a craving for fries and gravy.. So, just filled the T-Fal with potatos and made a batch of mushroom gravy.. Going into Brandon tomorrow from Neepawa, so gonna stop at Shilo and try theirs on the way in.. MMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm !

Picked up an oil less fryer. Makes takeout obsolete here. The time and money is a real saving and just can't beat homemade and somewhat healthy(in moderation)

Second the poutine at pizza express.

I like New York Fries for poutine. (extra curds please!)  
Five Guys has great seasoned fries, and KFC gravy is tasty when it doesn't plop out of the container like a can of cranberry jelly! LOL!

Tastees are the best!!! Poutine...yum!!

Montana's. Both fries and gravy are my favourite.

Their poutines are amazing!

Best I've tasted yet has to be from Jin's in the Town Centre.

Is the hospital cafeteria. Cheap too. Lol

has pretty good gravy.

either New York Fries or Chicken Delight.

This thread reminds of me of the south park where they fill a hot tub full of KFC gravy and eat it with McDonalds french fries.

So you ordered poutine and were disappointed cuz there was cheese? Uh, thats what poutine is. Maybe if you just wanted fries and gravy you should have just ordered fries and gravy. Or did I miss something?

The hospital Cafe had some decent ff.  
Had my baby there and was a super treat to a nursing mom.(price was awesome too!)

East provinces would have better poutine. Cheese curds are better east also. A difference in a poutine

Hi just my thoughts, poutine is fries, gravy, and cheese curds (traditionally). I have not had the best experiences at either shilo or pizza express.  
 
Shilo has gravy that occasionally tastes like soap... They use shredded cheese. Go Wednesday for wings they are the best around.  
 
Pizza express has in my opinion a very lifeless gravy and they use shredded cheese. Bread ties, pasta and subs are my express go to.  
 
Joe Beavers has unique poutine. It is fantastic the first time. It has a batter that binds the fries together in a rectangle or cube and they use real cheese curds.  
 
New yours fries has great cheese curds but there fries are a little lifeless and without flavour, I would say the same for their gravy. I do enjoy the optional spices and a Cajun poutine is a rare treat.  
 
Now on to my favorite, which is Burger King... Burger King you say? Blasphemy! Well the fries are crisp, the gravy is rich and very flavourful. I don't think it is from a natural source. I think is a powder based gravy. It does have a nice beef flavour. They also use real cheese curds. Of course it's fast food, they have bad days too.  
 
For A&W they use chicken gravy and cheese curds. The gravy is thin and makes the fries soggy.  
 
Boston pizza has good fries and gravy.  
 
Humpty s has curly fries (exceptional) and good gravy.

The problem with poutine in Manitoba is that even though we have a great dairy and cheese industry, the curds we get are chilled (rather than sold at room temperature), which removes the fresh squeak/rubbery texture that you see in Ontario and Quebec. Brandon doesn't have any "amazing" poutines but Joe Beeverz has the most over-the-top poutines on the prairies (but the fried log of fries isn't the best) and BU's Charley Biggs' gravy for their poutine was the most similar to Quebec City poutine from what I recall - but that was a few years ago already.  
 
I simply can't eat McDonalds/A&W/BK poutine anymore because they're overly salty or too soupy.
