    I see that Twisters Ice Cream Shoppe is under new ownership-The new owners have some pretty big shoes to fill as that place was a well oiled machine. Does anyone know if they are open for business yet?

    Tastees and DQ are open for sure and Tutti Frutti is year round unless something changed recently. I gather Twisters should be open by now as well. Maybe someone that knows more about VD can chime in.

    I know that Twisters opened Mar 1, I was there! but with the new owners I was wondering if they have reopened because I saw they were closed as of April 1st when they took over...at least this is what their sign said.

    I have not been under the new ownership, but will be soon. Hoping they did not change ice cream though. Had that happen to me once in Winnipeg, new owners changed ice cream. Was nowhere near as good. As long as the new owners keep what was working, they will do fine!

    The other one I didn't get to try last year but had been meaning to is the Batchery. No sign of them yet at where they park at BU but the high temp today is 4 degrees so not quite reliable ice cream weather yet  
     
    I did notice a "closed" sign in the Twisters window just after 7 last night, but there were people sitting around outside so maybe they just don't stay open very late? Jane Smith from past posts you have a lot of info about Twisters. What would've been typical hours in the past?

    Hours sign on the door at Twisters says it's Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun from 2-7. I hadn't been in quite a while so it sure if those are normal hours, seasonal hours or part of the transition to new ownership.  
    When I was there last the big thing was the flavour burst ice cream which makes for a pretty tasty cone. I mean no disrespect to those in the ice cream business in saying that I don't think it's rocket science and imagine the new owners will be fine... anywhere I've had flavour burst the taste has been comparable.

    And, I am looking forward to giving them a fair chance. I am sure they will do well. What previous ownership was/was not like does not matter. Let's be positive.

    These are the hours they have posted on their fb page too. Personally I think a good ice cream place should be open till 9pm. 7 is just too early in my opinion.  
    We often don't finish supper till 6:30 or 7pm. So it would be closed before we decide to grab some ice cream for dessert. And sports usually end around 7 pm, so that eliminates the "after the game" crowd, etc.  
    We went last night just after 7:30 on and it was closed. So I guess we will stick to all the other ice cream places.

    From this year's new ownership, hours are to be expanded further in May as they transition further into running the show (and presumably as we transition into hopefully having actual ice cream weather ).  
     
    As an aside, folks reading posts from Jane Smith should note that out of all posts made over the last 6+ years all but three have been related to one particular business. Read into that as you see appropriate.

    Adam, you are correct, I have commented or posted about Twisters because it is my favorite place in Brandon to go for ice cream-I am wishing the new owners nothing but success because I am hoping that the place I love to go will still be just as good as what the previous owners did and I have tried all the others as well but Twisters was/is my place to go!!

    To all my friends and family expecting me to be operational by tomorrow I sincerely apologize but.....Due to the CRAPPY weather this weekend being below 0°, I am unable to fill my water tanks because of the chance of them freezing'cause then I'd really be in trouble. I will keep you all posted....HOPEFULLY TOMORROW IT WILL BE WARM ENOUGH.....

    I agree with the post about Twisters hours. I hope they extend them soon. We had a craving for ice cream at 8:30 Saturday night and went to DQ as it was open and had long lines!

    We tried to go on Sunday, after 8. Of course, they were closed. The new hours leave a lot to be desired. Not sure why the transition results in such limited hours. To me, that sounds like massive changes, but it could just be a staffing issue. I look forward to trying them out, as they have been my favorite ice cream place in Brandon. May be a while with these hours though.

    You definitely need to try this out - homemade! Ice Cream & Gelato...find her on Facebook...she will be back soon & such amazing selection of flavours....can't wait!!!  
     
    Plus she's available for weddings, reunions, and such (as posted on her FB page)  
     
    I always thought Frozen Yogurt was healthier than ice cream but Trinda told me the Gelato is better for you...and hers is so Yummy!!!

    Stopped at Twisters tonight right before 7. Everything looks the same, new owners are very friendly, old owner still there helping out. Other than their hours I would say it's business as usual. Yum yum!!

    If you're craving something sweet today I'll be at the truck making fresh ice cream. When I shut down in the fall I had quite a bit of stock left in my freezers, so I'm selling it off at 1/2 price until it's all gone....I have: S'MORES, PINEAPPLE, LEMON, GINGERSNAP, CARIBBEAN LEMONADE and APRICOT Gelatos. Hope to see you soon

    I have to Say the Velvet Dip has the best treats, The staff make up different kinds of specials and they are so yummy.Locally owned and operated. I saw on the girls shirts 50 years of business in brandon!!!  
    Way to go Velvet Dip looking forward to another 50 years..

    The Batchery serves the best tasting ice cream ive ever had around here! The other places are good to but the batchery is so unique and delicious.

    They are the last to open in the spring and first to close in the fall seems like they are never open and by the looks of it the new owners have limited hours as well

    18th St. across from the Co-op gas station. 305 18th St. N. to be specific. And they are now open till 8, and as previously mentioned, 7 days a week. Looking forward to trying it out under the new owners. Maybe tonight?
