Does anyone know what it costs to use a service such as "Skip the Dishes"?  
 
 
This does not i:nclude tips, which may or may not be optional, depending on who you ask.  
 
This is not a thread about tipping...only about the cost of having food delivered.

The costs vary depending on the restaurant. It ranges from free with purchases over a set amount to $3.49. The average is about 2.49 I believe.

Skip is based on distance, and usually starts at $2.49 unless there is a promo.  
Still cheaper than ordering from some pizza places that charge $5.00 AND a debit fee. :/

Skip the Dishes has a lower delivery fee charged to the customer than most delivery establishments because they pay there drivers additional monies from the 25% they take from the restaurant you chose to order from. I think skip the dishes offers a great service; so please don't take this thread as a complaint against Skip the Dishes rather an education for the customer.  
 
At first glance it may seem that saving the dollar or so by ordering from skip the dishes as opposed to directly from the restaurant you want the food from, is a good deal. Except keep in mind - because Skip the Dishes takes 25% off the top of the order from the restaurant - as a customer when you order through the Skip portal - you are paying for every item full price.  
 
Consumers would very likely find that a majority of orders would be cheaper if placed through the restaurants own online ordering system. There simply isn't enough margin in food to allow skip the dishes access to already discounted items when you have to eat away another 25% to them.  
 
This may not be relevant to restaurants that don't have delivery or online ordering themselves - but many of the restaurants offered on skip the dishes brandon have their own delivery services. I'd suggest checking those sites out first - don't let the dollar or two in delivery charge savings be the deciding factor!
