Higher prices
7/28/2017 at 7:46 AM
I have heard people talk of higher prices for beef, and I am wondering why they are still pushing this story.
The wholesale cutout value on triple A meat topped out in the week of June 23rd, it was at the price of $3.33, by the week of July 14th the wholesale price had dropped to $2.77, which is a significant decline, but it doesn''t seem that these price declines get passed on to the consumer.
The cutout value is the value of a carcass is what an carcass is worth as basically box beef cuts and hamburger.
I thought I might add the carcass price paid to producers, June 23rd $2.60, July 14th $2.38, Canfax is now showing that those feeding cattle are operating in a negative margin again, and if this picture doesn't change by the fall backgrounders and calf producers are going to be in for a bit of a shock as far as prices.
