Looking for unique, special, useful wedding gift ideas other than cash.m/gift cards. The bride and groom are very special to us but we are having a hard time thinking of something that they will love as a wedding gift.

Tickets to the Pink concert and a night at the Delta hotel (which is attached to the Winnipeg arena so we didn’t have to go outside or try to find parking). It was a great mini holiday a few months after the wedding.

A good quality set of coral ware plates and dishes, plain with no pattern which we use every day and set remains complete after ten years ( no breakages ).  
A good quality boxed full table cutlery set which we usually use for special occasions or family gatherings.

Good quality Logastina pots. Still using them 25years later.  
 
Good quality knives would be another idea.  
 
Hotel room, gift card for a nice dinner out that you would not splurge on yourself.

One persons best gift is another's worst. We eloped so didn't get a lot of gifts but we got coral and I hate it. Half the bowls broke and husband would take coffee out to garage and leave cups out there till an inch of mold grew in them and threw them out as he was too lazy to wash them and I refuse to touch the mold so no mugs left not coral fault.  
 
We have given the multi use ladders or extension ladder whichever the couple needs. We also gave a skill saw to one couple who were needing one to renovate. Mostly give a cheque as they can put it towards whatever they need. Not cash after hearing of envelopes of cash being stole from wedding events a cheque can be replaced. One couple sent a thank you and used the money to put towards the house renovations. Some may say that is offensive but I would rather see them use the money for that than a gift they put in storage or resell.  
 
Many years ago I knew an older couple who got married. Second marriage for the one and they had everything but were given a portable or travelling bar suitcase and she always said that was their best gift.

Everyone wants presentation these days. Gone are the days of cutlery, plates, bed linens ect. Most couples these days have lived together long before they get married and have already established themselves with all the things they need.  
 
People want cash to go towards paying of wedding debt/paying for a honey moon ect. Ect.  
 
A previous post mentioned people might find it offensive that a couple use the money for renovations? I'm not sure why that would be offensive. People gift money for the couple to do whatever they want.  
 
Friends of ours bought a new TV amoung other things and that's perfectly fine.  
 
Give money and let the newlyweds do as they please.

It's too bad you didn't ask for the worst wedding gift presents. That would be funny and I know of a few.  
 
If you know the couple really well you know what appeals to them.  
 
If not, give them cash or gift cards  
 
It's really dependent on the couple. If they have just purchased a home or it's in the future and you know exactly what they have or do not have, the renovation and tools idea is a great idea.  
 
Just like a GCertif for plants in they're gardeners or a weekend away at a beautiful resort if they're travellers. Restaurant GC's if they are foodies.  
 
I like it when couples can put gifts to their own good use, rather than something they dislike and will not suit them or their decor.

One of the most memorable gifts we received was a bottle of champagne & 2 flutes. We drank it on our 1st anniversary.  
This yr will be our 30th, other than the gift from my parents that is the only gift I can tell you who exactly it came from.  
Maybe if champagne is not their thing an exceptional bottle of wine might be a better choice.

We LOVE these and have made SO much use of them, from the year we were married till now! Not just for tv-watching but as extra side tables at gatherings or tables for kids, homework, art, forts, yard sales!!!  
 
The trolley houses these 4 tables AND the trolley is on wheels AND the trolley has a drop-leaf table top too. Like?!

Flying birds - Was our favourite from our best friends.It is something we cherish and goes with any decor.  
They have some beautiful sculptures at Shoppers Mall in the made in Manitoba store.  
Also Dundee Designs makes different ones too.

The best gift we received was from my husband's siblings - they all chipped in and bought us an heirloom-quality wall clock that chimes on the hour. The chime is one of several different songs.  
 
It's one of my favourite possessions and fascinated all our children. Even though we were well-established already household-wise when we married, it's the one item that we started married life with and it's hung prominently in every place we've lived during our marriage (this is our third house).  
 
It makes me smile every time it chimes.

I gave my best friend a custom wooden box that has 3 slots in it. In each slot was a bottle of wine. You can custom it to open on wedding day, 1st anniversary, 5th, 10th, whatever you want. And they'll laser cut a photo of your choosing on the front if you like. or a quote on the back of each slab. Beautiful gift. They loved it, and I got one from my mother for my wedding.

When a close friend got married, I got them a wooden box that I put a bottle of wine in.  
The box had engraved on it "For your first BIG fight"  
I also put 2 envelopes, one for him one for her. In his envelope I put $50 and a note for flowers and chocolate. In hers had $1100 and a note to order take out.  
 
There was a third envelope telling him to go get flowers, and for her to order take out and for each of them to re-read their vows and remember what it is all about.  
 
The couple I gave it to loved it. They actually saved it for about 5 years, because they wanted to make sure it was for their BIG fight. (They didn't know what was in it). And once they opened it, they actually put in another bottle of wine and another $150 so they can have it again, if they ever have another BIG fight.

The best wedding gift I every received...was my wife.
