Has anyone gotten married in clear lake? If so, where did you get married? How was your experience? I've already put a retainer down for the Victoria Inn but my heart isn't set on it. I was leaning more towards Danceland in Clear Lake! I'd like to hear some feedback whether it be positive or negative! Thanks in advance!

We attended a wedding at Clear Lake last summer. The actual ceremony was at the 'gazebo' or whatever it is called out in the open. It was a bit strange to have people all around playing sports and having picnics while the ceremony was happening, but the couple didn't seem to mind. The dinner and reception were at Danceland. It was an all right venue, but it was SO hot it was awful. There is no air conditioning, and we were just all sweating profusely in our dress clothes. No drinks allowed outside (the man who was monitoring that was quite rude about it, even when I assured him I was driving and only had pop in my glass, he still made me go inside with it). We were unable to comfortably sit inside and visit, and were unable to sit outside and had a drink, even non-alcoholic.

We got married on the Martese! We had a small casual wedding, rented it for four hours, got married, had supper and drinks and visited with family and friends. We had lots of compliments about the wedding. I know some people will rent it for a shorter period and have the ceremony on the boat than go to danceland or onanole hall for the reception.

The only problem about getting married on the Martese is that I have about 150 guests attending our wedding.

'City kitty'?? Really?? Let me explain a little more about that day, and see if it's something that you would like on your wedding day. 34 degrees outside. At least 46 degrees or more inside the hall. Elderly guests feeling dizzy, fainting, some needing medical attention and others needing to take them to Minnedosa (closest open Emerg room). Nobody on the dance floor because it's too hot to dance, the bride and groom have their first dance but nobody else dances all evening. People trying to socialize but the 'no drinks outside police' won't even let us take water onto the deck outside. Party wraps up early, after most people have left shortly after the first (and only) dance. Not what I would have wanted for my wedding, but then again this 'city kitty' had my wedding in a big tent with a bonfire and people camping!

May I ask when the wedding took place and approximately how many guests attended? I'm having my wedding next year in August 2018. But if I remember correctly, August is still a pretty warm month.

I got married in 2015 at the Elkhorn Manor, which was fantastic. It's a cabin near the golf course that you rent for the weekend and are able to use the grounds associated with it for your ceremony or even tent wedding. I had my outdoor ceremony there, and then my reception at the hall in onanole which was awesome. They were wonderful to deal with and it wasn't priced to bad either. I originally had danceland booked but when I found out it didn't have air conditioning I decided to get rid of my booking--the onanole hall has a/c.

Clear Lake is a beautiful place for a wedding!! My husband took me on the Martese for our Anniversary, had dinner, drinks it was so beautiful just loved it!!!

How many people attended your wedding? I'm having 150 guests so I need something that'll accommodate that. Also, who catered your wedding? What about a liquor license? Was that all covered by Elkhorn manor?

I agree with danceland and it being so hot. it's uncomfortable, and they had big fans running and you couldn't hear anything. You spend a tonne of money for people to be miserable. I think getting married down town is nice, on the beach or gazebo or at the wishing well. I've heard great things about receptions at the Onanole rec centre...

We got married up at the lake and had our dinner/dance at the Wigwam! It was such a great and unique venue, but unfortunately they have installed all the booths now so I don't know if it would work for a wedding anymore. (When we were married there were still tables, so we were able to move things around).  
 
We looked at Danceland - but felt it was too big for our medium sized (120-150) guest list. It's HUGE in there. And found them to be fairly expensive.  
 
I've been to a few weddings at the Onanole community center. It's quite a nice building and super close to Wasagaming if your guest want to go hang out in between the ceremony and dinner.  
 
I wonder if the Lakehouse would bookout their main floor area for a wedding?...  
 
There is also the Wishing Well and Golf Course (although I imagine this would be quite pricey)

i had my small wedding at the wishing well on a beautiful july day! We invited maybe 45 people to it and had a small dinner after at a house. but the wishing well is so beautiful in the summer, the flowers and the little creek with the bridges.. so beautiful. and they just recently redid the area as well! dont count it out! sometimes simple and small could be better!

Who do I contact about booking the wishing well for the ceremony?

hey! call the parks canada and they e-mailed me a contract form to fill out! I also got a harpist because there's obviously no electricity, contact Ann Germani at "the music studio" if you want someone! She was SO nice!

There are a lot of really excellent venues for weddings in the Clear Lake area - just depends on what you want. Some of the group camps are options west of Onanole in addition to what's been proposed already.  
 
For a reception of 150 people, the Onanole Rec Centre is a beautiful building with liquor license capacity of 250 if I'm not mistaken.

I had about 100 people attend my wedding, and I invited about 120. I think there have been weddings held there and have accommodated 150. But you would have to contact them to be sure. I had shady lane tea room from Brandon cater, they were fantastic and all my guests said such good things! The liquor license I applied for on my own. We were extremely happy with how things turned out!

I went to a wedding a few years back it was warm in the building yet one of the best weddings I have been to. At the end of the day it's about celebrating with friends and family that make a great wedding not the venue.

I have heard of a lot of people having their reception at Danceland but does anyone know if it would be a good venue for just the ceremony?  
My wedding is in September 2018 so I am not too worried about the heat, but I have never seen the inside of the building in person (I have seen photos which is why I am interested in this location). And then was thinking of having the reception at Elkhorn resort.
