I have fished nearly every day around the Brandon area, spot to spot. Throughout the entire day. I am always watching how many are fishing around me, what you are catching or how many you are catching. It's just too bad I'm not a CO.  
 
What have I seen?  
 
1. Many people are keeping undersized fish. I wont say who for fear of stereotyping someone.  
 
2. A incredible amount of hung up barbed hooks as the water is dropping  
 
3. RUBBER FREAKING GLOVES.EVERYWHERE. LITTER! HERE'S AN IDEA. Bring a garbage bag to throw your beer cans, bait containers and chip bags in and then take it with you when you leave.  
 
4. 16-20% of anglers are keeping much more than the limit.  
 
5. Pike abuse: Kicking a pike off your barbed hook with your shoe is not an appropriate way to treat anything... whether you see it as a annoyance or not.  
 
6. NO CO's AT ANY RIVER SYSTEM ON A REGULAR BASIS.  
 
Many of these offenders are the new people to Canada and have no idea what the limits or sizes are. I figured this out by conversing with them. Many of them can not even read English... there needs to be a verbal course before they can hunt or fish in Canada.

Call Someone telling Ebrandon is a waste of time, why risk on the off chance a conservation officer is on Ebrandon. call one tell him exactly where this is taking place and something is more likely to happen.  
On a personal note this has been on many times before, about the rubber gloves and Im curious what they do with the rubber gloves Ive fished a bit but over the years and Ive never used or seen anybody use rubber gloves.

Trust me they know the limits and sizes. It's like any other laws in Canada, wearing a seat belt, speeding ect. How are those laws not broken? It is unfortunate but I always carry 3 garbage bags with me. One for the fish (hopefully) and 2 for garbage and beer cans. I have been to places where there are garbage cans near by and even those don't get used. It is too bad that people today can't clean up after themselves. It is not only fishing but in parking lots, stores, roads (garbage in ditches) ect. Get used to it, it is the new norm if no one ever speaks up and I don't mean ranting on here but tell people politely when you see them, that way if the game warden shows up you can mention that you already told them. Or if someone leaves the garbage behind ask them to please take it with them. If they don't then you have at least done your part.

Ignorance of the fishing laws is not an excuse. Ran into an incident of abuse up at Whirlpool Lake in RMNP where some kids were kicking a fish around on the dock. We spoke to them and tried to explain that if they didn't want the fish to let it go - that abuse of any living thing is unnecessary. Whether they took it to heart or not, we don't know, but at least we tried.

Due to reduced funding to our conservation department it is very hard to increase the amount of conservation officers. They are stretched to the max already. These people know the law. They play the "I don't speak English" line all the time. At least until a co is in their face ready to fine them. All one can do is take video evidence.....conservation really loves it as it helps them prosecute these law breakers. One thing to keep on is calling into TIPS. 1-800-782-0076 is the number. If more people called in there would be record of high demand of poaching prevention needed thus maybe showing the government how much we need more resource officers. Oh and they use the rubber gloves as they don't want to touch the bait or fish.

Here's the part I don't understand. I live on a lake and I see two or three conservation officers in a boat every second week end or more and I've also seen them lots checking people along the shore. They stopped me in my boat a week ago and I asked them if there has been any problems on the lake and they said it's been very quiet. If that's the case why are they spending all this time in one area instead of going to the areas that are having these problems?

You take a garbage bag for beer cans?You do know that drinking beer while your fishing is also against the law.Drinking any alcohol in a public place without a liquor licence is actually illegal.Although I agree with you,but if you can break the law and then go on ebrandon and rant about others breaking the law sounds like a hypocrite.Just saying

I think the op meant beer cans they find on the ground... Same as the garbage...

They know what their allowed to keep and what they shouldn't. I was fishing years back and saw a group of new Canadians pull a sturgeon out of the river. One guy from the group grabbed the fish, jumped in the car and took off then returned about 20 minutes later to continue fishing.  
It boiled my blood to see that! I remember when they were re-introducing them to the Assiniboine in the late 90's but their going to be fished out of the river again sadly

there are ways to report a poacher and more effective than this site. A year or two ago there was a group caught way over the limit of fish but if they are not caught every weekend eventually the fishing will collapse and become a poor way of getting groceries.  
 
As for garbage just walk around the little Saskatchewan river some time, it looks like a dump on good days.

Anything you have ever read on ebrandon always has a 10 percent fringe that believes the rules don't apply to them.  
 
Real world fishing will always have the 10% club.  
If the 90 percent spent 2 minutes cleaning the waters edge and reported poachers, two things will happen.  
1: the waters edge looks better and littering will look more obvious to the idiots that do it.  
2: natural resources will slowly learn where the hot spots are.  
 
lastly, suggesting it's the none Canadian born that do all the damage makes me laugh.

For picking up beer cans that are already strewn about. If I could drink a garbage bag full of beer cans I wouldn't be fishing. Lmao
