CBC radio to (92.7FM in Brandon) launched a new format today across Canada. Apparently this has caused some controversy especially within the classical music community, as the CBC Radio 2 has been known in the past for broadcasting mostly classical music programs. The CBC Radio orchestra which also received a lot of airplay on Radio 2 was also disbanded to make way for the new format.
I tuned in earlier today and liked what I was hearing! It's about time we had a station like this on the radio. They will have 60% Canadian music content. A nice new alternative to listening to the same monotonous songs played over and over and over again all day, every day on the record company controlled stations that we have now.
