Hey,  
 
Has anyone in Brandon found a rather affordable place to have their brakes and rotors replaced? I’m shopping around currently and everywhere I’ve looked is quoting me at a pretty penny. The cheapest I can find is over $1,100. It’s not as though I’m at metal on metal right now, but I know this is something that needs to be dealt with as soon as possible.  
 
Just wanting to see if anyone else has had good experiences anywhere in town.

Are you being quoted for just parts? Or parts and labour?  
 
Only reason I ask is because our mechanic quoted us a rough estimate of over $600 for all around break and rotors for just the parts.  
 
Factor in shops run you $100+ an hour for time. $1,100 may not be too far off but I'm no mechanic. Just throwing my opinion out there.

Seems like a lot. Foreign vehicle? Or it’s been left way too long and maybe other stuff like calipers are needed?

It’s parts and labour, so that’s fair. Still though, I don’t want to be paying this much. I’ve been reading online how they recommend you replace both the pads and the rotors at the same time, but it’s not always necessary, however, it’s cheaper to do it all at once with the mechanic rather than pay for shop time twice.

Is recommending to change the pads and rotors? The dealer? Yes, in a perfect world where money is not an issue, then definitely do both. If your rotors are in good shape, then just do the pads. Replaced the pads and shoes on my Chevy truck myself last year. Parts were about $200, I think.

wow thats a lot of coin. Whenever I do my brakes, i do not change the rotors. But when and if they need to be re-machined, I just replace them. Independent shops will be cheaper in labour.

I don’t even know how to change my cars oil if I’m being 100% honest with you. I feel like I’d just hurt myself and damage the car if I tried lol.

Speak with Tory. I am not saying he is cheap, but he is very fair, and does excellent work.

the rotors should be fine if you've never been down to metal on metal and as long as the vehicle is reasonably decent shape/age. Unless your getting that WOBBLE every time you tap the brakes you don't likely need new rotors...and even if that is the case you can look into just getting them machined...

One shop isn’t quoting you on premium parts and the other quoting on cheap parts.
