Let’s face it. It takes me about a half hour to change over my tires with a Jack. A shop can likely do it in 15 minutes. Given a shops overhead seems like a decent price to me.

Kal Tire charges $10/tire if they’re already on rims

Try Wal Mart. They charge $8 dollars a tire.  
I also had a good experience at Advantage Auto & Trailer on the North Hill. Although it looks like they mainly do trailers, they also work on cars and pickups.

When it comes to safety, is the cheapest really the best?! Why not choose a reputable shop as opposed to someone who wants to make a quick buck?  
My car carries some pretty precious cargo: there’s other things I can skimp on, safety isn’t one of them.

is your own back yard using the jack that came with the car. I always do my own, that way I know they've been done right and torqued to the right specs.

Garage Mahal on Braecrest Dr does them for $37.20. Torqued to spec and pressure adjusted.

I have found several "Honest" mechanics in Brandon  
over the past 27 years. When I deal with one of those  
mechanics, I want that business to have a decent profit  
so that they will stay in business for me to rely on next year. My tires on rims get stored there too! Shop around!  
Pay a little more and find it to be more economical in the long run. I like Lyon's Transmission and One Stop.

On highway 1. If you buy your tires from them they change it for free.

$25 to get mine changed over. I am also confident that the car is safe. For that price it is not worth doing it myself.

Because a shop fitted your wheels does not mean that they are torqued properly. Lug nuts threads should have an anti seize grease applied to achieve the correct torque, torque is twisting force not friction. Most shops do not apply anti seize grease which is very unprofessional. Lug-nuts should always be retorqued after 100-200 Klms of driving. I much rather do the job myself with my own tools, then you know it is right and your safety is guaranteed.

Changing over tires is a pretty basic skill everyone with a license should have so i dont think price is going to buy you better work so no need to pressure someone who wants to watch their dollars  
 
Any shop in town would handle that task safety, unfortunately with overhead and other expensive $50 isnt really out of line. I do my own which is the cheapest option but otherwise i have seen prices at walmart be fairly reasonable , at one time I couldn't buy the supplies to change my oil as cheap as they could do it for me, guys are nice and friendly too  
 
Only thing id add is whether you diy or go to a shop make sure you re torque your tires after driving a bit, that will insure you are safe

Never heard of anti seize on lug nuts. I would never put that on. Did a little googling to see if it was a thing and certainly more reputable sources said this could be bad as opposed to good. Reduces friction, makes stress on bolt higher and stretch/ weaken it and could break.

Completely wrong. If the threads are not cleaned and lubricated then you may not achieve correct torque , ie the nuts may be too loose.  
Torque is NOT friction, it is TWISTING force, common misconception. One dealership where I worked it was a fireable offence to not lubricate lug nuts. The lubricant should be applied sparingly to the THREADS only. This is essential and good practise. It is also a good idea to lightly grease the centre of the wheel rim where it mounts onto the hub flange. This prevents sticking especially on aluminium wheels. I have 28 years experience as a fully qualified vehicle technician and auto electrician in main dealerships , auto, motorcycle, atv and agricultural.
