I think I understand what you are asking. I have a commercial building. We have an alarm company monitoring the building. We just added a CO2 sensor to the panel. Not sure your question regarding shop fans. The gas is low to the floor. Open up an overhead door to clear the air. If running vehicles inside should they not have the tail pipe exhaust running out of the building?
