    Cheap Nissan crap. I broke the plastic end off my dipstick and it went down in the tube! I have no knowledge if you can get at it from the oil pan, but tried to play with simple MacGuyver type fixes first.  
     
    I need a crash course in "How to Remove a Broken Dipstick From The Tube ~101." Will pay $100. (If you get it out in 5mins or two hours).  
     
    With great success, I would like to confess that I failed miserably at using some YooToob™ tutorials. I noticed that forced air thru the oil fill worked to bring it up, but I have a screw stuck down in there now. Dang it!  
    It's about 3-4" from the top. Up for the challenge? HINT: It's a 2002 Nissan Sentra. A small magnet? A thin piece of wire? Something barbed? A big boot to the engine??

    remove the tube

    The tube is likely held in with one bolt and an O ring on the bottom. It may be bolted on to the exhaust manifold which will be a pain if it is. You will have to look from underneath, possibly removing any underpan shield or guard in order to determine better.  
     
    Once you have the tube off, you can push the dispstick out and re-install the tube.

    Thats solid advice. A few others also just mentioned this. Had to idea. Love to learn more about mechanics as I go.

    Perhaps a suction gun

    If it wasn't for the screw you mentioned that is now jammed in there, I would have suggested a suction gun. If you could have got a decent seal over the tube, a suction gun would draw it out of the tube.  
    Not sure I like the idea of using air pressure to push it out by putting air in the filler cap. Although the PCV system will vent a certain amount of the pressure, if you were to go too high, you could damage the engines seals.
