You use to be able to get stone chips fixed for free. Does anyone know if this is still available anywhere? I was to told it you have to pay for it now. Thanks

Have to check what you have for insurance and deductible to determine whether your stone chip repair is free. It’s not the shops that determine that, it’s whatever you chose for coverage when purchasing your car insurance

MPI recently changed the insurance deductibles and corresponding coverage.  
In order to qualify for free stone chip repair and vandalism, you need to carry $200.00 Plus.  
If you carry $200.00 Standard, you will need to pay your deductible for stone chip repairs and for vandalism.  
On your insurance paperwork, where it says which Deductible you carry, it will say:  
“200.00 Standard“ or “200.00 Plus”.

If you do not carry the 200+ coverage than go to your local autobody or glass shop. Usually $50 to have a chip repaired. Cheaper than paying your deductible and going through MPIC.

You could go to piston ring, buy a $30 stone chip repair kit and fix it yourself. It’s very easy, quick and leaves a quality , strong , long lasting repair. I’ve done lots of windshield chips this way.

He comes to your place and does the job there if you like. He does all the paperwork with MPI as well. We had a stone chip repaired by him and he also installed a new windshield in a different vehicle. Very good work and very easy to work with. Highly recommend him.
