Trunk lock on Sunfire

I have a question, I don't know if anyone else has had a similar problem. My lock will not open on my trunk, the key just spins round and round. Is this the lock that is shot or is it maybe just a cable out of place? It is an older sunfire. Just wanted an opinion before I took it to a mechanic or locksmith. Thanks for any help!
