Warming the car
1/5/2009 at 3:28 PM
So my husband and I have been discussing this one lately - in this very cold weather:
Do you run your car for any length of time before driving in cold weather? Why or why not? If so, for how long?
We grew up with the idea that a car had to be properly warmed (the needle at least hovering above the C on the temp gauge) before making the poor beast move. Now everyone is saying that is a myth and completely unnecessary, emitting toxins into the atmosphere and even damaging to the car itself.
As somewhat environmentally-minded people, it is compelling to quit that initial warm-up but somehow just feels wrong to do to your car.
What say you, eBrandonites?
