Can you ride in the bed of a truck legally in Brandon

I'm looking into getting a smaller truck such as an S-10 or a Sonoma and since I will not have a crew cab or quad cab or whatever it's called I was wondering if I can take people around town in the bed. I realize there might be special requirements and different speed limits but I would just like to know. Thank you to anyone who responds to this.
