Having trouble filling gas tank on van ...

We have a 2005 Freestar van and every time I go to fill it with fuel I have trouble will the hose clicking off. Yesterday when I was filling the fuel actually spit back out at me and I had barely started filling. I know that if I fill slowly (takes 15 - 20 minutes) it doesn't happen but it never fails that while I am filling at the cardlock someone comes along and has to wait, so of course I don't fill right up and leave so they can have their turn. We did take the van to a service station but did not get any results. Does any one out there know how we can fix this.
