im working on an older van. 1994 Pontiac TranSport 3800 (has the overdrive tranny)  
my question may be simple for someone to answer (im hoping) since i havnt been able to figure it out.  
The Electrical component under the hood behind the right headlight seems to be the problem. A constant ticking noise that ends abruptly and causes the alarm to turn on. when i shut the alarm off it seems to me the electrical component is either sending power to the alarm still (lights are dimming in a constant pattern) or is sucking electricity someplace. Im hoping that it may be a simple matter of changing the component. But that seems to simple (lol) as all garage fix-its seem to be.  
Its my estimation that whatever it is is in that particular component im talking about (have yet to google the correct name of it) behind the right headlight, or its the computer itself.  
 
Any ideas or perhaps insight? im at a total loss right now and its been rather frustrating so if you could please help i would be sincerely greatful
