Ok. I have been out of Automotive parts/service for a while. Those in the know can please up date me as far as the current shop supplies "surcharge". Percentage wise and hard caps.  
 
My quote - and its kinda interesting no labor times are shown has 643.00 Labor/350 parts. Shop supplies about 60 bucks on top. Thats about 10 percent. When our shop where I worked at the time we rolled shop charges it out it was 2.5 percent( the peg was higher) and no caps.  
 
I do not begrudge a shop supply charge and I will argue for and against depending on the rate.  
 
In this case  
A) the percentage is high and certainly has no cap.  
 
The 60 dollar shop supply charge in this case where I know the job(s) have no real supplies needed is a tad high.  
 
I look at the quote and I doubt that the tech will ever need to go back to the parts guys once the parts I pay for are dropped in front of him.
