Jeep Wannabee

Jeep wannabe
Not many years ago I had a hard time identifying different makes and models of cars and trucks- mainly cars.
They all seemed to be roundish and a hard to see symbol on the ever shrinking grill.
Yes even non auto people know what a “beetle” looks like( slug bug). Myself I could id them all until well then I got old and they all got slippery looking. The 1994 dodge Ram with its big friggin grill was a early start to the come back of cars with character! Cars/trucks with a front end you knew what is was. It was a slow movement and now |I can easily say “unique” is back. That is good- cars and trucks with character!
So – the reason for my post is- why would a car company let another car company steal its' “look”
In all my years “names” were never shared . GM would never bring out a Pinto now because well ford used that name and owns it plus they were crap. Accidental sharing yes. The Jeep wrangler and the Chevy wrangler pick up caused me lots of grief. It is the look. Icon look. Ford would never bring out a Ford that looks like a beetle would they?? Nope not with out the required payment.
So now it comes down to Jeep. I bought one and plan to drive it when my pockets are more full ( safety) . Jeep can stand for
J just E empty E every P pocket
or J just E enough E essential P parts
plus many more.
Any whooo – the jeep grille is a Icon. 7 slots or 8 we all know a Jeep when its coming at us. Wrangler Cherokee/ liberty etc
Now I know some of the history of the Hummer brand in using that familiar grille but in real life it simply says to myself that Hummers are just Jeep wannabees. When you see the Hummers grill is a Jeep rip off.
I just do not know how Hummer and now GM got away with it but with all its newness etc I know Hummer is riding Jeeps coat tales in many ways!!
I still would buy a Hummer in a Nano sec if I had the coin though!!
