Canada Road Safety Week Statistics
5/26/2010 at 8:17 AM
In conjunction with Canada Road Safety Week, from May 18th to 24th, 2010, Brandon Police Service Platoon and Traffic members stepped up their enforcement efforts.
5 Manitoba Public Insurance sponsored check-stops were also conducted, where 1275 vehicles were processed.
This increase in enforcement resulted in 106 Provincial Offense Notices being issued for various violations. These included speeding, failing to wear seat belts, unlicensed drivers, unlicensed/unregistered vehicles and stop sign/red light offenses.
1 impaired driver was arrested and 1 person was charged with drug possession.
I think this is MPIC money well spent, %8.3 of drivers stopped feel no responsibility to the rest of us on our roads.
I just hope they realize that traffic safety rules are made to protect all of us, and blatant abuse of them is a scourge on our society.
I hope the police follow up on these individuals and make sure they do not just return to their same old ways.
