Armed Forces Vehicle Discount

I have a problem with the armed forces vehicle discount. Now before everyone jumps on me about being a horrible person hear me out. I appreciate the military and everything they do. They have a tough job that most people wouldnt do.
My problem is that why is the armed forces the only occupation that gets this discount. Doctors save lives every day, what about police and firemen they put their lives on the line every day. The list here can go on and on.
