hi does anybody have this problem that I have, my 2002 GM , after starting it , then say to go the store , then shut it off , then jump in the truck to start it it will not start for about ten minutes , happens 2 to 5 times a week , anybody know what is causing this.

Does your security light come on?

Check your starter

Sorry not starter. But alternator

Ignition Module?? Does it ever just die while driving in the city? Example, at a red light?

went to my GM dealer ship , and the technican put in a new starter , but that is not the problem , it happen to me again Saturday morning , went on the web and people are having this problem with there trucks , I believe it's with the ignition housing , people are saying GM does not want to address this problem.

Have been told it's the ignition.

Most will need more information.  
Does it crank over?  
Does it struggle to crank or spin slow?  
Are there any light on the dash showing?  
ie security light? check engine light?  
If so are they on when running, cranking, or all the time?  
Is the fuel level low when this happens?

The problem is very simple, and the solution is even more simple.... You have yourself a GM, that's the problem, go get yourself a nice F150, but don't go up on the hill.

one of those ballast resistors. After they have cooled down, they will allow things to operate again.  
If you or someone you know has a code reader, plug it in and find out if there is a fault code in the memory. That will take a lot of the guesswork out. cheers

This happens with my vehicle. For me, it's the anti-theft. There's no rhyme or reason for when it happens, but I just have to wait for 10 minutes and then it fires up. I had mine in the shop for over a week and it didn't happen while it was there (go figure). Rather than putting a small fortune into investigating, I just put up with the annoyance.

Is the security light on when it happens?  
Thought those trucks were famous for fuel pumps as well.

Had a similar issue., albeit a newer truck. After changing the starter about 4 times, he went to a different mechanic. He suggested using his spare set of keys. Problem solved.

Our truck has the same problem and it's the anti-theft device. Read through your owners manual, ours says that you can't have anything attached to the truck keys as the metal can trigger the device and shut down your truck for a while.  
 
Also, I don't know about your truck, but in ours there is a very tiny black button with a silver casing on the left hand side of the dash under the air vent that acts like a restart button. I found it by accident when I was stuck in the parking lot one day with three kids in the back seat fighting and my cell phone died - was a good day! The button works like a charm, you push it, then turn the key and your truck will start like magic with no waiting involved.

That sounds about on the level of electronic devices bringing down a plane.  
 
To the original poster: Good luck finding the problem. Keep mining the discussions on forums specific to your vehicle.

but have you checked your lead connectors on your battery posts for any cracks or breaks...i had a 98 chev that would do what yours was doing...turned out my positive lead connector had a crack it it. just a thought
