What is the speed limit on 34th street between Richmond Av and Victoria Av? I have seen vehicles traveling at anywhere from 45 to 75 kms. That is both summer and winter road conditions too.  
 
So ebrandon, what IS the speed limit? Anyone know?

Likely 50 like it is on every other street.

Pretty sure it's 60 until the first traffic circle, then 50 the rest

The speed limit from Richmond Avenue to Victoria Avenue is 60kph, and at Victoria going north to Pacific is 50kph.

Sorry and thank you for proving my point. Some people aren't sure what the speed limit is because its not posted clear enough and travel at their own speed.

34th is 60 from Richmond to almost the entrance (off 34th) to the Sunset Mall, a bit south of Victoria, where it changes to 50. From there to the north end of 34th it's 50.  
 
No question that people don't seem to know what the speed limit is, but it is reasonably well marked.

I live in this area, and the speed limit is clearly posted. Most likely its drivers not paying attention/don't seem to care.

The limit is 60 kph from Victoria south all the way to Patricia. Yes the circles are 30 kph.  
The signs are posted.  
But once again too many hillbillies and rednecks that are scared to travel more than 30 in the city.

From Victoria Ave to all the way to Patricia Ave (South of Richmond) it's 60km/hour.

In all my years of living anywhere, I have never heard anyone say that they wish people would drive faster along the street that they live on. You just don't hear people say that they want people to drive faster along the street they live on, while their kids are out playing.  
 
Apparently, they just want people to drive faster along the streets where other people's kids are playing and/or crossing to go to school.

is a 60 zone west of Linden blvd.

30 km/h in the circles is just a recommendation, not a limit. If the sign is yellow and doesn't say "maximum", it's not enforceable.

Not sure about anyone else, but I just follow the speed limit signs posted, as they're there on every street. Not rocket science.

the speed limit throughout the city was 50km except where it's posted for schools and such. I never thought there were any 60KM signs posted in this city..... Guess I should pay more attention.

My vehicle is unable to immediately accelerate from the 30 (or less) in a traffic circle to the posted 60 before having to slow again for the next traffic circle and then the traffic lights. Given the price of gas, it is more efficient to not gun it only to slam on the brakes for the next obstacle. Also, I prefer to follow the advice of the engineer that suggested the 30 limit in the circles over the anonymous trollers on a forum.  
 
An important feature of 34th Street is the path on the east side and play area north of McDiarmid which, when children are present, increases the risk of someone running out onto the street. I therefore have a tendency to cover the brake pedal which will reduce my acceleration and may even cause my speed to drop a few notches. When on that part of the road, I am often on my way to Two Farm Kids and will be slowing to make the right turn into that parking lot. Given that I was probably stopped at the lights on Park, I may not have gotten up to 60 yet.  
 
So unless you know the thinking process of the driver that is not going fast enough for you, maybe you should just chill out and drop back. Given the length of that street, the driver going 45 will only add a minute and a half to your trip. Be prepared to travel below the speed limit as it is the maximum and all speeds below that are acceptable.

The traffic circle was put in on 34th to slow traffic down.  
So drive nice, leaves the cops free to solve crimes.

Yes, but if it gets them there a quarter of a second sooner!  
 
If you're in the northbound lanes, you're probably okay at the crosswalk. However, if you're in the southbound lanes, you may have a problem if a child, or even an irresponsible adult, should come flying out of that crosswalk on a bicycle.

Slowing down traffic is a bi-product of the traffic circles. They were put in because the stop signs on Willowdale and Richmond were very inefficient in traffic movement. Does anyone remember what it was like trying to get onto 34th prior. It was nuts sometimes and very risky. Traffic circles are quite effective in keeping traffic moving. Let's not get into those that don't know how to use them here though lol.

1st st. 70kmh north of the bridge  
 
18th st 60kmh from co-op to mall, then 70 from mall to highway  
 
34th st 60km south of victoria  
 
victoria 60 kmh east of 17th st E. 70kmh west of wellington dr, turns into 90 shortly after.  
 
richmond if i remember correctly, 60kmh east of 1st, after the tracks turns to 90.

You made my day. It has not even started. My vehicle is unable to accelerate!. Must own a Ford I figure.  
 
On the serious side though the features you talk about are great. Yet if any street is designed for 60 kph it is that one. Ignore the circles and lights.  
 
It is a wide open area. The path is almost a light year away from the main road. 60 is comfortable in the off peak hours.  
 
Less so when it is busy. All your points are valid as one should travel at a speed that is comfortable for them as long as it is not crazy fast or stupid backing up traffic slow.

like 18th St south of Maryland the limit turns to 80 km/h. There are no exit or merge lanes at Willowcrest Ave. like there should be on a street with that speed limit. Why do we need 80 km/h before Patricia Ave?
