What do you carry in your vehicle for security kit? Would you buy a security kit package or do you think those kit aren't good quality so do you buy individually items instead?

I have a kit in my vehicle. It has booster cables, a flashlight, a small blanket, a small first aid kit, a waterproof poncho, and a little pylon thing. It might be "cheap quality" but the booster cables work, and the rest of it will get me through in an emergency. I also carry a bigger blanket, mitts, and a pair of winter boots (I rarely wear winter boots, so I'd be screwed if I had to walk somewhere).

Check out CAA. They have a kit that is fairly decent and it goes on sale periodically. I bought one for each of our cars.

I pack a small socket set, screw driver and a few wrenches, jumper cables a triangle set and a candle, socks and snow suites gloves and blankets for everyone, matches, and axe and a bit of newspaper, extra pair of boots if i have them, i keep most in a rubber maid tub and throw it in the trunk, every spring i take it out and wash it and leave it there for next year  
 
its good to have, bought or home made, but i made mine up out of stuff i would have thrown away because im thrifty like that

Don't forget the food items as well for energy.  
 
We like to have a couple large chocolate bars with almonds, peanuts and a couple packs of beef jerky.  
 
We usually always travel with water, but have brought small boxed juices along at times.  
 
A couple super warm blankets (wool &/or down) are good to have too in addition to the items the above posters have mentioned.

is this to carry only when you travel or do you really carry all those things in your vehicle all year. That is alot of items to have and to find room in vehicle....no room for hitchhiker I guess.
