I have those on my car also.....I think most models are coming out with them. My concern is people may have to take classes to know how they work and when to use them?

If the the cars would automatically signal as it is starting to slow down, not come on only as it is actually turning. By then I have twigged on but a little notice would be lovely.

As with all advanced technology, it can be quite complicated and difficult to comprehend for some users, and for that reason they might refuse to use it altogether.  
Or they use it improperly, as can be often seen, like when people turn them on several turnoffs before they intend to turn, confusing anybody trying to turn onto the road along the way and inviting a collision, or the common one of signaling at the moment they start turning, or the more comical mistake of using them at a bend in the road.

That is amazing! I hope everyone can get and use this option.

I thought all along that some people were not ordering this option when the driver purchasing a vehicle.  
I have saw numerous late models without this feature.  
Time for dealers to order all vehicles with this option.  
On another vehicle note.  
There seems to be a issue with a "dead short " behind the steering wheel " which incapacitates the driver from making logical decisions while driving causing the driver to call 911 on their cell phone.  
At least that is what I think they are doing as it is illegal to use the phone while driving

Well hey failing to signal a turn or lane change under the 'Highway traffic act' in Manitoba nets you a $143.75 fine.

No turn signal accidents only account for 5% of all accidents, so it only makes sense that some people believe it's 95 percent safer not to use them.

Doesn't have them. And on some days the seat belts are missing too.  
Also the speedometer seems not to be there from time to time.  
But when my wife comes along with me, she is very kind and often helps me to find those, and also explains me how to use that stuff .

But i think the lack of courtesy  
is everywhere becoming a fact of life  
that is not very funny at all. It's sad.  
 
Many drivers never knew The Golden Rule  
which is not in The Highway Traffic Act  
or the Driver's Handbook.

As with any new technology there will be a learning curve for most people and then there are those who will be technology challenged and sadly will never catch on. I'm not really sure they have all the bugs out of the turn signal option, you will see a vehicle merge into major traffic and it seems to work and then when lane changing it seems to fail, must have something to do with the steering. I have a feeling that once they get all the bugs figure out and people are given intensive training on the use of the system, roads will become much safer.

I too worry about the bugs.  
Yesterday I seen a car doing about 70 down 18th, the poor driver looked like a crazy man.  
 
The problem was his turn signals, his car didn't seem to come with the middle setting. I'm sure he was in a total panic trying to keep that car from hitting other cars as his turn signal was forcing him to dart from lane to lane.  
 
The only good news was the signal was helping others from getting in his way.  
 
I hope the car company sends out a recall on all the models that came with that version!

You weren't aware of the fine print in the Highway Traffic Act? In brief, it just says that on all new vehicles being sold to someone with a Winnipeg or Brandon address, the turn signal lever is a $5,000 [i]option[/i]. Of course, being the cheapskates we are, we normally decline that expensive option. The Act goes on to say that if the lever is purchased, and the owner actually uses the lever, even if incorrectly, he or she is automatically absolved of all blame in any ensuing accident. The $5000 that is paid for each lever goes into a special fund to compensate victims of people who just don't know how to signal.  

Yes this makes a comical read, but seriously,perhaps you young folks put too much stock into electric devices. I was driving back when many cars had no turn signals or brake lights, and some pickups only had one taillight. You had to use hand signals to get a drivers licence. Even nowadays many trucks don't self cancel. My car has signals and I do use them, but I don't trust them 100% nor do I trust another vehicle signal 100%.

Light Bulbs do fail at times and the driver just can't stop and change them.

Those folks have the deluxe version known as turn confirmation signals. They come on in the midst of the turn, so onlookers can be sure they aren't just imagining that the vehicle is actually turning. That type of signal was designed to put an end to the "Did you see that *%#*&@* turn without signalling?" conversations. In case of a collision with an oncoming car during a left turn, the signal stays on until the police arrive and take notice that the signal light was used.

If you can't operate your turn signals, what makes you think you can operate the rest of your car?  

The sales guy told me my new truck came with the "collectors edition" lens and bulbs on my turn signals and that I could hook them up wireless via bluetooth to my smart phone so I don't have to use the lever on the steering column anymore... I'm not 100% convinced this is safer in anyway what so ever but he was nice enough to throw them in for free if I bought the extended warranty!
